Pericardial MesotheliomaPericardial mesothelioma, also known as cancer of the pericardium, is cancer in the sac surrounding the heart. Symptoms of cancer may include chest pains and shortness of breath.

The pericardium (the sac that surrounds and covers the heart) or tumors fluid accumulates in the spaces between the heart and the sac itself. The accumulation of fluid around the heart known as pericardial effusion. The fluid or the tumor may press the heart and thus cause discomfort. It may be necessary to perform a pericardiotomy to remove the pericardium. In order to drain excess fluid from a needle is inserted. This process allows pericardial drain fluid and help relieve pressure on the heart.

DIAGNOSIS
The diagnosis of malignant mesothelioma should be considered in all patients with pleural effusion of unknown etiology, the degree of suspicion to be greatest in middle age, with persistent chest pain and history of exposure to asbestos.

Pleural fluid
In about half of cases are always looking serosanguineous meet criteria for exudate, with glucose levels below 50 mg / dL and pH less than 7.2 in one third of patients. Pleural cytology is usually predominantly lymphocytic but has problems in distinguishing reactive mesothelial cells from malignant mesothelioma and metastatic adenocarcinoma, so sensitivity is low. Malignant Pleural MesotheliomaThe National Institute against Cancer states that: “The malignant mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer is a disease in which cells (malignant) cancers are found in the sac lining the chest (the pleura), the lining of the abdominal cavity (the peritoneum) or the lining around the heart (pericardium). “Sadly, the ambient Mesothelioma is a cause sick.

It most cases occurred in people who have been exposed to an asbestos work. They breathed asbestos fibers in their lungs.

Other cases of mesothelioma occurred in people exposed to asbestos in a household environment. Exposure to asbestos can be deadly, as we discovered. As little as one or two months of exposure can result in mesothelioma 30 or 40 years later. The National Institute against Cancer noted that “people exposed in the 40s, the 50s, the 60s, and 70s are now diagnosed with mesothelioma due to the long latency period of asbestos disease.” There are common early symptoms of mesothelioma, but usually they are too general for a common person to make a proper evaluation. Definition of Malignant Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a rare and virulent cancer of mesothelial surfaces, which affects the lining of the lungs (pleura), the abdominal cavity (peritoneum) or the lining around the heart (pericardium). Mesothelioma is caused by exposure to mineral fibers (asbestos or erionite). Some have been exposed to their work, others secondarily by family members who, unwittingly, have reduced fiber to the home of their work in their clothes or their hair or on their skin.

The occurrence of this disease, sometimes referred to asbestos cancer, this fiber is the main risk factor known for this type of cancer is not indicative of a minimum threshold of exposure and medical treatment has an impact limited to the life expectancy of patients, usually 12 to 18 months.

A non-cancerous benign mesothelioma occurs in the pleura, which is the lining of the lungs and chest cavity. Benin Mesothelioma is very rare that infection with mesothelioma is dormant for a long period of time before the first sign appears. Excessive exposure to asbestos particles is responsible for this type of cancer. The asbestos particles accumulate in the mesothelium causing extreme pain. Although non-malignant tumor is located on site, it can compress the lung, if allowed to grow larger. Shortness of breath is the result of that.

However, mesothelioma is a benign disease cured. Surgery is very effective if growth is only local. The only possible complication during surgery is that sometimes the leakage of fluid in the pleural cavity around the lung, which is medically known as pleural effusion. But as the fluid can be drained easily, this also does not pose a direct threat to life. Investigate the non-cancerous growth lets you know if the patient has had any exposure to asbestos and thereby prevent the onset of life-threatening as the types of pleural mesothelioma, peritoneal and pericardial.

Malignant Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is an aggressive malignancy and rarely linked primarily to exposure to asbestos. Asbestos, if inhaled or ingested, enters the body where tumors can form in the mesothelial lining of the lungs, heart or abdomen.

There are three main types of mesothelioma. Pleural mesothelioma, the most common form, affects the lining of the lungs. Cancer of the lining of the abdomen is called the peritoneum and pericardium of the heart is. Malignant mesothelioma may be localized or diffuse. The first sign of pleural mesothelioma is usually the presence of plaques that start in the chest. Tumors May then spread to other parts of the body.

Mesothelioma is most common among men. Two thirds of cases are diagnosed before the later stages of life because it can take decades for symptoms to develop from the time of initial exposure.

The three main histological types of mesothelioma are epithelial, sarcomatous, or mixed. Tumors affecting the epithelial lining of internal body cavities. Different types of epithelial cells are identified by their shape and number of layers. Sarcomatous tumors start in the muscles or connective tissues and are much more aggressive.
