During the manufacturing process, the asbestos particles disperse in the air. Serious health risks occur among workers when they inhale or swallow without knowing it. It is also found that exposure to asbestos coupled with smoking increases the risk of getting affected by cancer. There were millions of American workers who were exposed to the material since early’40s. The workers include those in mines and mills, the shipbuilding industry, heating and construction, etc.

The risk of diseases related to asbestos increases with excessive exposure to asbestos. But some security measures adopted recently include that workers should shower and change cloths before leaving the factory.

It was noted that detection of asbestos mesothelioma is a difficult process because the symptoms appear very late. The similarity of symptoms with other diseases is also correct diagnosis almost impossible. Medical technology has advanced greatly giving new hope to victims and their relatives. But a complete cure remains a distant dream.
