Mesothelioma is a rare and virulent cancer of the mesothelial surfaces, which affects the lining of the lungs (pleura), the abdominal cavity (peritoneum) or the lining around the heart (pericardium).
Mesothelioma is caused by exposure to mineral fibers (asbestos, for example).
Some have been exposed to their work and secondarily by other family members who unwittingly, have reduced fiber to the home of their work in their clothes or their hair or on their skin.
Most often mesothelioma cancer is the result of exposure from 20 to 50 years or more ago.
Malignant Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that starts in the mesothelium, a membrane that covers and protects most internal organs of the body.
The mesothelium is composed of two layers, one surrounding the body itself, and the other forms a sac around it completely. A small amount of fluid is normally produced between these two layers, lubricating the motion of bodies protected. Read the rest of this entry »

A non-cancerous benign mesothelioma occurs in the pleura, which is the lining of the lungs and chest cavity. Benin Mesothelioma is very rare that infection with mesothelioma is dormant for a long period of time before the first sign appears. Excessive exposure to asbestos particles is responsible for this type of cancer. The asbestos particles accumulate in the mesothelium causing extreme pain. Although non-malignant tumor is located on site, it can compress the lung, if allowed to grow larger. Shortness of breath is the result of that.
However, mesothelioma is a benign disease cured. Surgery is very effective if growth is only local. The only possible complication during surgery is that sometimes the leakage of fluid in the pleural cavity around the lung, which is medically known as pleural effusion. But as the fluid can be drained easily, this also does not pose a direct threat to life. Investigate the non-cancerous growth lets you know if the patient has had any exposure to asbestos and thereby prevent the onset of life-threatening as the types of pleural mesothelioma, peritoneal and pericardial.

Mesothelioma is an aggressive malignancy and rarely linked primarily to exposure to asbestos. Asbestos, if inhaled or ingested, enters the body where tumors can form in the mesothelial lining of the lungs, heart or abdomen.
There are three main types of mesothelioma. Pleural mesothelioma, the most common form, affects the lining of the lungs. Cancer of the lining of the abdomen is called the peritoneum and pericardium of the heart is. Malignant mesothelioma may be localized or diffuse. The first sign of pleural mesothelioma is usually the presence of plaques that start in the chest. Tumors May then spread to other parts of the body.
Mesothelioma is most common among men. Two thirds of cases are diagnosed before the later stages of life because it can take decades for symptoms to develop from the time of initial exposure.
The three main histological types of mesothelioma are epithelial, sarcomatous, or mixed. Tumors affecting the epithelial lining of internal body cavities. Different types of epithelial cells are identified by their shape and number of layers. Sarcomatous tumors start in the muscles or connective tissues and are much more aggressive.

Some facts on mesothelioma disease and how it can be defeated or prevented
Mesothelioma is a potential fatal disease that humanity faces today. Cancer is commonly called a disease Mesothelioma is caused by inhaling asbestos fibers for the period of time. In many cases, patients do not survive more than two years after diagnosis. The symptoms appear very late and it is almost impossible for early detection and effective treatment.

Pleural Mesothelioma is the most common, its incidence being 9 times higher than the peritoneal mesothelioma. It is more common in men than in women, being the age of onset of symptoms between 50 to 70 years with a latency period of 20 to 40 years. In 80% of cases the etiology is exposure to asbestos dust. Other possible causes of mesothelioma are radiation therapy and polio vaccines contaminated with simian virus SV40. The pleural mesothelioma is about 3% of malignant neoplasms of the pleura, and when the diagnosis is made rapidly and its course is invariably fatal, usually during the next two years.
The most common clinical presentation is diffuse chest pain, which occasionally can be pleuritic or radiating to the shoulder accompanied by pleural effusions. Dyspnea, cough, weakness, malaise and fatigue are usually in advanced stages of disease. In 89% of cases, the abnormal electrocardiogram abnormalities being more frequent sinus tachycardia (42%), ventricular or atrial arrhythmias (17%) and blockage of a branch bundle (30%)
